Even in winter, Farchant is the ideal starting point for excursions in the region. The nearby Garmisch-Partenkirchen is very popular with winter sports fans, especially in the snowy season. Skiing or cross-country skiing are not the only possibilities offered by the region around the venue of the 1936 Winter Olympics: Get to know the Eibsee or the Partnach Gorge from their wintry side or simply stroll through the pedestrian zone with its small and large shops. Mittenwald, Ettal, Oberammergau or Murnau are less than half an hour's drive away. And a trip to the metropolises of Munich and Innsbruck is always recommended.
